Anna Hakobyan visited Ararat Marz

On November 29, Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan visited Ararat region. The first stop was at Paruyr Sevak’s House-Museum, where she was welcomed by Sedrak Tevanyan, Ararat Governor, Artavazd Nazaretyan Deputy Governor of the region and Sevak Ghazaryan, director of the museum.

The director of the museum, who is also the grandson of writer Paruyr Sevak, presented the history of the house and the garden, and noted that the house was conceived by Sevak himself. Sevak Ghazaryan also told episodes from the writer’s life, and then accompanied Anna Hakobyan to the building of the museum. Among the collections of the museum was the oldest dated khachkar in Armenia, which had been found in the area near the village.

The Prime Minister’s wife listened with interest to the history of the village of Zangakatun, Sevak’s life, the journey, then wrote a note in the guest book, laid flowers on the graves of the great poet and his parents.

The next visit in the region was to Saint Karapet monastery, where Anna Hakobyan was welcomed by the abbot of the monastery, Reverend Ter Aristakes Ayvazyan.

The priest presented to Anna Hakobyan the history of the monastery built in the 14th century by the Orbelians noblemen. The monastery consists of a church, a bell tower, a tomb, residential buildings and a cemetery. The priest informed Anna Hakobyan that next year renovation work will be carried out in the monastery.

Prime Minister’s wife lit a candle and planted a tree on the territory of the monastery.

The next stop was in Goravan, where Anna Hakobyan was hosted by the Galstyan large family. Accompanied by Alla Galstyan, Mrs. Hakobyan got acquainted with the living conditions of the family, talked with the children, and inquired about their interests.

Then the Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan visited the House of Culture in Vedi, where she was welcomed by Garik Sargsyan, head of the community, Tatevik Yeghiazaryan, director of the House of Culture and the deputy director Aram Avetisyan.

The House of Culture was built in 2013. Performances are regularly staged in the hall, often free of charge.

Presently three training courses are conducted at the House of Culture: singing, dancing and acting, and they plan to open a painting course next year. The Prime Minister’s wife joined the acting and singing classes. Anna Hakobyan emphasized the importance of such programs aimed at bringing the public closer to the culture.
