160 years after its composition, Tigran Chukhajyan’s opera Arshak B is on the Armenian stage in the Italian original. Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan watched the premiere.

Armenian Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan watched the premiere of Tigran Chukhajyan’s Arshak B opera at the Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. Present were also Chief Prosecutor Anna Vardapetyan, National Assembly Speaker’s wife Mariam Margaryan, Deputy Minister of Culture, Education, Science and Sport, Daniel Danielyan.

Before the performance started, Deputy Minister Danielyan and famous impresario Ettore Valantieri, who had taken part in the organization of the Arshak B opera, presented the work done and emphasized the uniqueness of the performance.

Arshak B is Tigran Chukhajyan’s first opera, which the great Armenian composer completed in 1868. It is presented fully and in the Italian original for the first time, performed by the singers, choir and orchestra of the Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. The musical director and conductor of the performance is Donato Renzetti, the stage director is Jean-Roman Vesperini.

Italian is considered the language of the opera genre. Composer, musicologist John Sargsyan restored and re-created the original texts. This initiative is a unique opportunity to present the opera Arshak B to foreign audiences as well, to make it known worldwide.
